A provisonal date has been set. This is still to be determined with Covid Alert Levels. Can everyone cross their fingers and toes!

JAB are in a holding pattern also awaiting guidelines before a decision can be made. Again thank you for you continued patience.

RUGBY ACTIVITY AT LEVEL 2

While we continue to operate under level 2 there are still significant challenges to how we can deliver games.

In addition to the Heartland Championship matches, we also have a small number of fixtures for our Development team, U 16, U18 boys and a U19 Girls side.

Outdoor gatherings are limited to a maximum of 100 people.

Given the open nature of all our grounds and the infrastructure required to implement any alternative model, we have made the decision that all Rugby Matches being played in Mid Canterbury over the next 2 weekends will proceed with NO spectators.

So, unfortunately at the moment, opportunities to attend the game will not be available to the general public or stakeholders due to the strict Covid requirements at Alert Level 2.

Even the increase of 100 people in indoor venues will not be enough to help us meet the distancing and other requirements that apply to our spaces at the Showground. So under level 2 we, unfortunately, cannot meet the requirements.

The only attendees will be match participants and match day personnel.

While I know this will be disappointing for many supporters, this will enable the players to continue to enjoy playing their matches under the guidelines for level 2 set by the Government.

There will be Covid Managers and security at the venues who are required to ensure all guidelines are met, and this may include turning away anyone who turns up that isn't essential to the game taking place

The Heartland game will be live-streamed so please keep an eye on our Facebook page for details.

The live-stream link should be up on our Facebook page by lunchtime on Saturday.

Please stay safe and we will keep you informed on any further developments.

Regards,

Ian Patterson

CEO
